"It's a little chilly out here to say the least," said Aaron Granger of Burlington.
Sixteen degrees below zero on Lake Champlain. Cold, but not cold enough to keep fishermen off the ice.
"It's gotta be a lot colder than this to keep me from coming out here," said Justin Bidwell of Georgia.
But new regulations may price them out of their sport. The Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department has made emergency rules enacted in October of 2007 permanent. Anglers can no longer transport live bait from lake to lake.
Fishermen say that will force them to spend several hundred dollars more this winter.
