Freshwater Fishing Season Kicks Off On April 8

The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management (DEM) announced today it is stocking 80,000 trout into Rhode Island ponds and streams in preparation for the freshwater fishing season. Opening day of the season, scheduled for April 8, is celebrated annually by more than 40,000 anglers across the state. New this year, Carbuncle Pond in Coventry will be stocked with brown and rainbow trout.
